Peppard class w/b 21 September 2020

Date: 22nd Sep 2020 @ 10:18pm

Welcome to our week in Peppard class - we have been having a wonderful time playing and learning together.

I have read daily with every child, we do this first thing and the children are very excited to take their turn.  I do love to see this enthusiasm.  Please bear with us as we add to our knowledge of letters and sounds before sending books home.

The phonics sounds that we have learned this week are:  g, o ,c ,k and the tricky word I.

We have played some games and made some pictures.  We have been practising our blending and reading of consonant, vowel, consonant words (cvc words).

In maths this week, we have been focusing on number 3.  The activities that we offer ensure that the children are developing mastery in their number skills.  We provide opportunities to work with reasoning with these smaller numbers to develop their questioning and explanation skills and language.

In other news, Grandpa Rex brought us some eggs to crack open.  Each one was hidden in the outdoor area and the children had to hunt for them.  They had so much fun searching and cracking them open.  The children then developed their own maths game by counting and comparing how many pieces of egg they have.  This gave us an opporutnity to investigate bigger numbers.

On Wednesday, we talked about perseverance and resilience.  We read the story The dinosaur who lost her voice.  The children talked about times when they demonstrated perseverance.

At the end of the week, Grandpa Rex then came again!  He brought the children some fossils to investigate.  They drew pictures and explored the different fossils enthusiastically.  We have begun to make our own fossils and we will continue this next week.

The children enjoyed a PE lesson with Mr Steele and they have enjoyed playing with their buddies on the common.

Please check your emails for a Tapestry login.  This is a shared online learning journal.

Happy weekend.
