Peppard class - 4th December 2020

Date: 4th Dec 2020 @ 1:44pm

Welcome to our week in Peppard class.

This week we have been recapping some of the vowel digraphs.  We have been blending and segmenting so the children are confident in both reading and writing.  The sounds we have recapped are:

ai, ee and igh.  We have also been writing words with our phase 2 sounds.

I have carried out an end of phase 2 assessment and the children have all become accurate and confident, we are very proud of them.

Thank you for reading with your child at home, it makes a massive difference to confidence and progress.

In maths this week, we have been concentrating on one more and one less.  We have carried out practical activities to support mathematical understanding.  We have also been using mathematical symbols when playing games involving one more and one less.  The children have also been practising counting up to 100 with our exercise and count video.  We have used a variety of resources to order numbers and we are aiming to order numbers to 20 and beyond.

We have started using a variety of different materials to create Christmas decorations to hang on our classroom tree.  We have also been taking it in turns to open our Nativity advent calendar door and we have been practising our song for the Christmas play.  We have had lots of fun with this.  Izzy has been making a postbox with the children for our writing table and role play.

In choosing time, the children have been using a map and the beebots to see if they can programme the beebot to go from the UK to Australia.  Some of the beebots enjoyed lots of world travel!

We have seen some fantastic collaborative creations with Duplo this week.  The dinosaurs had a new home and the children added bridges and towers to their design.

Have a lovely weekend.
