Highmoor 22nd July
Date: 24th Jul 2025 @ 10:21am
Dear Highmoor Parents, thank you so much for your generous gift for myself and Mrs Griffith. We are very very grateful. We love teaching your children and are very much looking forward to welcoming them back to Highmoor in September.
Here is an update on the last half term in Highmoor.
In maths we have focused on telling the time using both analogue and digital clocks, geometry including 2D and 3D shapes and parallel and perpendicular lines, and statistics including bar graphs, pictograms and tallies.
In English, we have written holiday brochures persuading people to travel to the Med for their holidays. We also rewrote the ending to the book Escape From Pompeii using powerful vocabulary, adverbial phrases and conjunctions.
Geography has been focused on what makes the earth shake rattle and roll - volcanoes and earthquakes! We have learned earthquake drills, seen in live time where earthquakes and volcanoes are erupting, understood why this happens and finally made our own volcanoes explode!
We have been using nature to create art this term - painting with leaves, moss, charcoal and twigs; making cyanotypes using photographic paper, leaves, flowers and sunshine and finally experimental painting with the juices from fruit and vegetables!
We have taken part in tennis, rounders and football tournaments, had sports day and performed at the Kenton. It's been busy!
Have a great summer everyone!
