eSafety and Social Media Advice

At Peppard Church of England Primary School we believe that everyone is equally valued, loved and accepted. Staff and Governors are committed to ensuring that all aspects of school life are fair and safe for children, staff, parents/carers and the wider community.

Online Safety is an important part of safeguarding that focuses on the behaviour and knowledge needed to create a safe and respectful online community. It helps children and adults understand how to use the internet, social media and digital devices safely, and what steps to take if they encounter difficulties.

Online Safety

Online Safety is a shared responsibility between parents, carers and staff. Together with the children, we must ensure that all users of the digital world are kept safe and that the same standards of respect, safety and acceptable behaviour that apply in our community are also followed online.

As a community we must be aware of, and protect against, risks such as bullying, intimidation, discrimination, grooming and exploitation—whether from people we know online or from strangers.

At Peppard Church of England Primary School, we take Online Safety seriously. We have strong security measures and safe working practices in place, which are monitored internally and externally, to safeguard pupils from potential risks or inappropriate material.

Children are taught in school how to stay safe and behave responsibly online. Just as in the real world, adults have a responsibility to educate children on what to do if they encounter danger, and how to respond appropriately. Online Safety concerns are managed in line with our school policies, with sanctions for unacceptable behaviour and, where necessary, referrals to the appropriate authorities.

Working Together

We can only succeed in keeping children safe online if staff and parents/carers work in partnership to deliver a consistent message. It is important for adults to talk to children about online safety, teach them how to behave appropriately, set clear rules, and address any unacceptable behaviour when it occurs.

On this page you will find resources and links to useful websites to support us all in navigating the ever-changing online world.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact the school. We will do our best to help, or direct you to further advice about keeping you and your children safe online.
