eSafety and Social Media Advice

At Peppard Church of England Primary, we believe that every member of our community is equally valued, loved, and accepted. Keeping children safe online is a vital part of our wider safeguarding commitment. Online safety is not just about technology—it is about teaching children how to behave responsibly, make safe choices, and use the internet, social media, and digital devices confidently and respectfully.

Online safety is a shared responsibility. Staff, parents, carers, and pupils all play a part in creating a safe and positive digital environment. Together, we ensure that the same standards of respect, safety, and acceptable behaviour that apply in school are also followed online. Children are supported to understand the risks they may encounter, including bullying, intimidation, discrimination, grooming, and exploitation, whether from people they know or from strangers.

We teach online safety throughout the curriculum, ensuring that learning is age-appropriate, progressive, and embedded across subjects. From Reception to Year 6, pupils develop digital literacy, resilience, and critical thinking. They learn not only how to recognise online risks, but also how to respond confidently and seek help when needed. This empowers children to navigate the online world safely and responsibly.

Our school has strong security measures and safe working practices in place, which are monitored regularly to protect pupils from inappropriate content and potential risks. Online safety concerns are managed in line with our safeguarding policies, with clear procedures for reporting, intervention, and, when necessary, referral to external agencies.

We place great importance on partnership with families. Parents and carers are encouraged to talk to their children about online safety, set clear boundaries, and reinforce positive digital behaviour at home. We provide resources, guidance, and support to help families understand emerging risks and promote safe and responsible use of technology.

At Peppard Church of England Primary, we are committed to creating a safe, respectful, and inclusive online community. If you have any questions or concerns about online safety, please contact the school. We will work with you to provide guidance or direct you to further support, ensuring that every child can enjoy and learn safely in the digital world.
