Spirituality

At Peppard Church of England Primary School, our vision is simple but powerful:

“Encourage one another and build each other up.” — 1 Thessalonians 5:11

We believe that every child and adult in our school community is unique and valued. Spirituality is at the heart of our school life—it’s about exploring life’s big questions, discovering meaning and purpose, and developing a sense of connection with ourselves, with others, with the world around us, and with God.

Spiritual development at Peppard is rooted in these relationships. We encourage children to reflect on who they are and how they feel (self), to show kindness and compassion to others (others), to experience awe and wonder in the beauty and diversity of the world (world), and to explore faith, belief, and the possibility of something greater than ourselves (God).

Spiritual growth happens in many ways across our school:

  • Through our curriculum, where children explore ideas, ask questions, reflect deeply, and respond creatively to learning.

  • Through collective worship, where pupils gather to reflect, celebrate, and consider how they can live out our Christian values and encourage one another.

  • Through our ethos and environment, which nurtures kindness, respect, perseverance, and moments of awe and wonder—whether in the classroom, in nature, or during outdoor learning such as Forest School.

  • Through extra-curricular activities and community involvement, where pupils develop empathy, care for others, and contribute positively to our school and the wider community.

Our spirituality policy was developed collaboratively with staff, governors, children, and families, ensuring it reflects our school community and brings our values and vision to life each day. We strive to nurture curious, reflective, resilient, and compassionate individuals who are inspired to live well and to encourage and build one another up.
