Consultation Feedback

Thank you to everyone who took the time to participate in the consultation regarding the future of the Dog Lane Field. The consultation period has now officially closed, and we are grateful for the feedback received from members of the community.

We received a range of comments and representations covering several key themes, including concerns about the loss of green space, future educational needs and school expansion opportunities, the future use of the site, sports and PE provision, and the proposed reinvestment of any proceeds. Additional points were also raised regarding financial considerations, historical commitments, and alternative options for retaining the site. We also received a number of supportive responses, together with offers of assistance and suggestions from members of the community and partner organisations. All feedback, comments and offers of support have been thoroughly reviewed and carefully considered by the Governing Body.

As part of considering the issues raised during the consultation, and to better understand the options available for the future of the site, the Governing Body intends to progress a Section 77 application to the Department for Education (DfE).

The Section 77 process provides an opportunity for the DfE and the Secretary of State to consider the proposal, the consultation responses, and the wider circumstances surrounding the site. All consultation feedback received, including both objections and expressions of support, will be submitted as part of this process and will help inform future considerations.

The Section 77 process can take several months to complete. Alongside this, the Governing Body will continue to consider the information available to it, including matters raised during the consultation and any further work required to understand the implications and opportunities associated with the site. The community will be kept informed as the process progresses and when there is a meaningful update to share.

Thank you again for your engagement, constructive feedback and ongoing support throughout this process.

Yours faithfully,

Shenan Swanwick
